The Shanghai Indoor Environmental Purification Industry Association was initially established in May 2002 and officially founded on August 22, 2006. As a municipal-level industry association, it operates as a non-profit social organization legal entity composed of 493 member units (as of January 2024), including state-owned enterprises, private enterprises, joint ventures, foreign-funded enterprises, share-holding enterprises, and public institutions. These members collectively form an industrial chain engaged in research & development, production, sales, testing, consulting, cleanroom engineering, pollution control, disinfection services, and related activities – specifically focusing on cleanroom technologies, controlled production environments, and air purification for public spaces. 7
