Shanghai Air-Conditioning & Refrigeration Institute, established in December, 1985, is an industry organization, whose main enterprises (including scientifi c research or design companies and institutions, schools and colleges, business and trade companies etc.) produce refrigeration and air-conditioning devices.

And Shanghai Air-Conditioning & Refrigeration Institute is voluntarily made of enterprises across districts, departments as well as ownerships. In this institute, there are now 113 organizational members, in which there are 26 members of nearby provinces, such as Jiangsu, Zhejiang and Fujian. The members cover all kinds of air-conditioning production companies of large, medium and small scales in China. They have obvious advantages over the same industry of China and gain the leadership position in this industry.

The main purposes of Shanghai Air-Conditioning & Refrigeration Institute are to protect the legal rights of the members, to keep the fair competition, to make the relationship between members, governments and society closely, to develop the industry, to feedback the expectations and requirements of the enterprises, as well as to help government with the industry management.

The main functions of Shanghai Air-Conditioning & Refrigeration Institute are as follows: Agency acceptance of government, offering consulting services, organization of technology exchange and guidance for businesses etc.

Shanghai Air-Conditioning & Refrigeration Institute monthly publishes "Shanghai Refrigeration Information", which offers varieties of the information to the Institute members; It also holds "The International Exhibition for Refrigeration, Air-conditioning, Heating and Ventilation, Frozen Food Processing, Packaging and Storage" every two years, It gives institute members all kinds of training without day.
