The Chinese Association of Refrigeration (CAR), founded on April 25th, 1977, is a learned society of the national refrigeration and air-conditioning trade. It is one of the nation's first grade institute subordinate to the China Association for Science and Technology (CAST), it's professional work is under the guidance of CAST.
CAR's main tasks are:
1. to conduct academic exchanges and scientific and technological consulting works;
2. to compile and publish the journal of CAR and other technical materials and popular science literature;
3. to arrange various kinds of technical training courses;
4. to promote academic exchanges and friendly connections with relevant foreign experts and organizations;
5. to organize and encourage CAR members to make suggestions, technical policies and major measures to the relevant governmental departments in order to promote the development of refrigeration science and technology and to recommend those outstanding scientific and technological personnels to the relevant governmental departments.
The refrigeration workers from l7 ministries and commissions participated CAR's various kinds of activities: For convenient to carry out those activities, six technical commissions are established under the Association, namely:
First Technical Commission: cryophysics, cry-engineering, separation and liquefaction of gases;
Second Technical Commission: refrigerating machineries and equipments, refrigerants.
Third Technical Commission: cold storage, food chilling and freezing technologies and cold storaging science.
Fourth Technical Commission: refrigerated transportation by land and water way and ice-making.
Fifth Technical Commission: application of air-conditioning and heat pump in engineering project and system energy saving.
Sixth Technical Commission: cryo-medicine, cryo-biology, freeze-drying and sma]] refrigeration equipments.
CAR's publication "China Refrigeration Journal" is a grade academe periodical which is approved by the State Scientific and Technological Commission and the China Association for Science and Technology. The journal has four issues a year, distributed both at home and abroad.
In order to meet the needs of the circumstances, CAR, with the approval of the higher bodies of the relevant departments, established the "Beijing Zhong Zhou Refrigeration Equipments Technical Development Company". The company provides a service window facing directly to the society, to the needs of grass-root units and to the industrial enterprises. The company's business mainly depends upon technological developments, strives for prestige and pays attention to the quality, thus it is commonly well received by the end users. Furthermore, CAR had cooperated with regional refrigeration enterprises and set up in secession CAR's technical consultant service departments in Beijing, Xian, Jinan, Lanzhou, Harbin, Chengdu, Guangzhou, Foshan and Tianjin in order to do some beneficial work to enliven the markets of refrigeration and air-conditioning equipments, to improve the quality of products and to raise the character of the enterprises.
Since 1988, CAR started to develop group members and senior (personal) members, up to now, the group members nation wide reached 426 and senior members over 800. Those group members mostly are nation's major refrigeration and air-conditioning factories large and medium size cold storage incorporated enterprises and design and research institutes, which to a certain degree represent the level of refrigeration industry in China. The senior members are the essence of the refrigeration and air-conditioning trade, all of them possessed senior technical titles and are major bases of nation's file of refrigeration technical personnels.
Entrusted by the State Bureau of Technology Control, CAR assumes the work of National Standardization Commission of Refrigeration Technology it's job is work out and revise the national standards, technical classifying and examining of refrigeration specialties.
Up to now, there are 23 provinces, cities and autonomous regions through out the country successively established their regional refrigeration association, they are: Liaoning, Guangzhou, Beijing, Hubei, Zhejiang. Shangxi, Tianjing, Heilongjiang, Shanghai, Henan, Hunan Fujian, Sichua, Anhui, jilin, Yunnan.Shandong, Jiangxi, Jiangsu, Guangxi, Xinjiang, Hehei and Shangxi etc. They totally developed 25 thousand ordinary members. Those regional associations, under the supervision of local China Association for Science and Technology, had done a great deal of works in the fields of academic exchanges, technical consultant, popularization journals and gained remarkable achievements.
The Chinese Association of Refrigeration formally joined in the International Institute of Refrigeration (IIR, general headquarters set in Paris) in the year of 1978 and became a second grade membership country. Since then, CAR had sent large delegations to attend the 15th, 16th, 17th, 18th and 19th international Refrigeration Conference held in Venice, Paris, Vienna, Montreal and Hague in 1979 1983, 1991 and 1995 respectively.
In the past twenty years, CAR had forged science and technology cooperative relations as well as economic and trade connections with academic bodies and enterprises in France, Italy former Soviet Union, Japan, England, America, Sweden, Switzerland, Norway, Denmark, Yugoslavia, Germany, Poland, Austria, Canada, India, Australia, New Zealand, Belgium as well as Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan and have done lots of works for our refrigeration and air-conditioning trade in promoting academic exchanges and trade with foreign countries. CAR had successfully held 17 seminars and 14 international refrigeration exhibitions in China. CAR had also selected some technical personnels and administrators in specific fields for further study or training in foreign countries.
The Chinese Association of Refrigeration cordially welcome all the relevant industrial enterprises, learned societies, scientific research institutions, universities and colleges and personnels in the field of refrigeration and air-conditioning nation wide to establish contact with us, strengthen cooperation and make join efforts in order to open up a new aspect of China's refrigeration undertakings.
